Hey guys,
so i’ll be in japan (tokyo and kyoto) in a few weeks. I really wanted to get a haircut with wispy bangs and dye my hair but i wanted to know if it’s worth it or not because ive never been to japan because and idk how hairdressers are with hair type that is different to theirs.
this is my hair in its complete natural state about 30 mins after a shower. My hair is extremely frizzy, and about 1 hour after this photo was taken, it was even frizzier (think: defying gravity kinda frizzy).
when i put curl creams its curly but not ringlets all around. maybe about 60% ringlets and the rest idk what you can call it.
i think my hair is high porosity because no matter how much i straighten my hair, even if its dead straight, the moment my hair senses even the slightest of humidity, it will go puff 💨 again. But as fast as it absorbs moisture, it also drains moisture. i straight my hair most times and i used to do it on 230°C heat on my muk straightener, but lately (the past 3 months) ive reduced it to 190°C instead. so i do have quite a few split ends. a lot of my hair strands are thick and then a lot are thin. my hair is also very brittle.
I’ve always wanted to dye my hair but i live in australia and i often feel insecure when i go to the hairdressers because i feel like they don’t know how to deal with my hair or they seem like they’ve never seen hair like this before. (when my hair is 100% dry its standing up, not like in the photo).
should i finally dye my hair or know my place and not do it? i also really wanted to get wispy bangs but i feel like since i don’t have dead straight hair, even when i straighten it won’t look the best .

I’ll be honest I do not think the wispy bang look that is popular in Japan will work for your hair. It works best on fine straight hair. That doesn’t mean you can’t get it dyed though, there are lots of cool stylist pages I follow that do cool dye jobs
I would look at assort hair salon. They have a lot of English-speaking workers, and I have seen videos of them working with hair type like yours on their insta. I have also gone to them twice and really liked them, very nice and accommodating. If you are looking for a place, I would honestly recommend finding places that speak really good English, because any miscommunication will literally ruin your hair.
