Hi!! Literally just finished my mani so my edges a lil rough but has anyone else had the issue of BKL Wise Winter Witch being super super gritty/bubbly? I’ve never had this issue before with any polish so was looking for some insight to what I may have done wrong? Or is something wrong with my polish?

A few questions:

Is it the polish or me?

My theories:

– polish was noted/advertised as being on the thicccccccker side so maybe I need to add some thinner? Is that okay? Will it ruin the integrity of the formula..?

– polish being thick, did I apply it too thick?

– do I need to mix the polish up more with a vortexer?

Pls help me I LOVE THIS polish I’m just so bummed it’s so bumpy looking ):

Thank you in advance!!

***EDIT: I should clarify that the bubbles/grittiness were appeared after every coat application!

  1. I had this issue too!! Instant bubbles when I put my top coat of seche vitae.

The bubbles look atrocious up close 🙁

I just did a mani with Frozen Heart from this collection and had the same issues. I added a tiny bit of thinner and that helped the application. I didn’t use a glitter smoothing top coat under my normal top coat, but I think that would have fixed the grittiness. The reflective glitters in these are just thirsty and require a plumper top coat to conceal them. So I wish I did the color and let it dry, then applied glitter grabber, then quick dry top coat.

  3. FWIW your mani looks great! I also had trouble with application. The formula was very thick and gummy for me and it has a very gritty finish. I’m hoping some thinner might help with future attempts.

  4. As long as you use a heptane free thinner it won’t ruin the polish! Does this have reflective glitter in it? That might be what’s giving it the texture underneath the fine particle shimmer. I don’t have this shade but I experienced something similar with Cirque’s Wish Come True where it just looked extra gritty compared to other reflective glitter polishes.

  5. This is really just a flaw of this specific type of polish when worn in velvet! The reflective glitter is what’s causing the bumpy texture that’s then emphasized by the fine, silky magnetic. You can alleviate some of it with a glitter smoothing top coat+your regular top coat. But you’ll always have a visual “depth” of bumpiness to it.

Some people don’t mind it, or even like it, but I personally avoid this type of formula because the bubbly/sandy look under the magnetic drives me crazy.

  6. I actually really hate working with the reflective glitter pigment because it’s so textured but it’s so lovely to look at with flash. Ive made a few polishes with it and the only ones I haven’t hated are in translucent bases. This base is more opaque. They’re not bubbles, it’s the actual glitter being covered up by the color of the pigment of the polish.

So nicole loves nails swatched this collections and there were issues. Like bkl rushed to put this collection out and used left over pigment they had on hand.
