It’s a little hard to tell in this lighting, but this looks like it could just be regular glitter to me. “Cat eye” is commonly used as another term for magnetic polishes. When they put the silver on did they use a little magnet before curing or did they just put it on and cure it?
Maybe it’s the light, but it’s difficult to tell.. these were cats eyes I had in a similar colour. They applied the polish and then used a magnet to get the cats eye effect. The sparkling particles can move with the magnet to make patterns.

It’s hard to tell in the picture, but it does look like normal glitter in the pics you posted.
I found a TikTok [video](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8yXXnoE/) that shows how magnetic polish should look. It’s easier to see a video of someone showing the magnetic particles, rather than just finding a basic photo (at least for me, I’m a visual learner).

There’s lots of different cat eyes. Some with bigger glitter some with finer glitter so they have the silky/glass effect but they never look like this. They might of used a cat eye with a heavier glitter but they didn’t know what they were doing with it in that case. So regardless it looks just like glitter. But i’m willing to bet it’s just a glitter…

It looks like that’s just glitter. Did they use a magnet at all?

Definitely glitter

Did you see them using a magnet after they applied it?

tbh, cat eye is a type of pattern that USES magnetic polish by holding the magnet diagonally across the nail after applying the polish. when you do that it looks like a cat eye, hence the name.
but you can also use the magnet to create different patterns that are NOT cat eye.
but so many nail salons and folks just call all magnetic polish designs “cat eye” anyway.

Maybe next time ask specifically for magnetic gel? “Cat eye” is used to refer to the magnetic polish but I doubt everyone is familiar with the term. Still pretty, but it looks just like a glitter gradient to me!

Looks like ombré glitter. Very pretty!
