Your friendly neighborhood astronomer here, back with the third installment of my series “Cosmic Coats”, where I paint my nails with space-themed polish and talk about the real science behind the name! Today is a really special episode because we are talking about a topic very near and dear to my heart, the topic I wrote my PhD dissertation on and have dedicated my career as an astronomer to studying: stars being torn apart and eaten by supermassive black holes 💫🕳️
I'm using Stellar Devourer by Alchemy Lacquers – a lovely flakey polish with about a zillion fun flake combinations! I knew when I saw this name that I HAD to have this polish. It's a bit more on the sheer side because of the flakes, so I did three coats over a smoothing base coat. My favorite part is the contrasting purple flakes.
As always, I will happily answer any and all questions, especially since I love this topic so much. Please drop them in the comments below and enjoy this episode of Cosmic Coats 🔭🛰️🤩⭐️💫
If you enjoy this and want more science + nails, I do more sci-comm on my instagram @lacquer.and.light! I’ll do AMAs when I have to stay up all night observing with telescopes and I’m always happy to chat ✨
