I am a nail tech and own my own nail salon. I’ve been doing nails since 2020! Recently, I’ve been having an issue with a client and it’s totally stumping me. After doing my clients nails, the very next day spots are appearing on her nails and only one the right hand!! At this point, I’ve used 6-7 different top coats on her and they’re all doing the same thing. Also, it’s only her. I have not had this issue with any of my other clients. It’s driving me crazy!!!! I’ll attach the photos of her nails I did last night. And then the one she sent me this morning. The spots are appearing the next day. Please, help me lol!!

It’s only one hand? Is it with multiple colors? Is she applying sunscreen daily? I used to dabble in r&d with a big nail company so I’m curious as well. With the multiple different top coats, its something the user is doing to cause this
Hmm I wonder if it could be a skincare product she’s using? Could you ask her if there’s any products she would only be touching with her right hand? I feel like it has to be something she’s doing that’s causing it if you’ve tried so many different top coats and no one else has the issue.
This is such a mystery. I’ve been doing nails about as long as you, and I’ve never seen anything like this in any of my clients. My clients all work a very wide variety of jobs, using all kinds of chemicals and working with their hands, from mechanics to cleaning ladies to hairdressers, waxers and cosmetologists, everything in between, but none of them have had this happen. This is just bizarre.
What does she do for work? Hobbies? Does she use any unique products for skincare? Does she wear gloves when she cleans? Does she smoke anything unusual?
Does she touch anything while you’re doing her nails, like her hair, skin, clothes etc. that could be contaminating the gel before you topcoat it? Is she holding her hands in the lamp properly for the right length of time, without pulling them out to check her phone or text like some clients do?
I may never be able to sleep at night until there’s an explanation for this.
