I wanted to try kbshimmer’s hydrating base coat and so i also purchased their top coat and i just used it for the first time and WOW this is the strongest smelling top coat i’ve ever used 😭 everyone speaks to highly of it but i never saw anything about how stinky it is. i hope the smell goes away on my nails quickly because it’s going to give me a headache lol

currently wearing LynBDesigns “Heuristic” with Kbshimmer clearly on top

I feel like my lungs have become more sensitive to nail polish because of the toluene in my QDTC. I cough so much painting my nails compared to when I first started this hobby 😭😭

  2. It’s the toluene. As with any nail polish product, the smell goes away as the solvents evaporate off. After the first few hours it’s much less noticeable.

  3. It is, but I love it. It fries so fast and I never get chips until close to 10 days of wear.

  4. Oh! So does Phoenix polish (from brasil afaik) also contain toluene? Does anyone know?

I love their colors and keep buying them from HHC and PPU, but damn, they stink worse than “old timey” (like 2000-2010?) nailpolish

It is terrible! My neighboring apartment smelled it strongly unlike the others I’ve tried and it was giving me a headache. It also shrank really badly on me (even capping the nails) It was so shinny too so it’s a shame. I tried it needing to find a good top coat but it was not for me. I use Glisten and Glow now for a QDTC which has toluene but isn’t nearly as strong and Cuticula top coat.

I hate it. It smells awful and is unusable on magnetics. I went running right back to Essie 😂

  7. Since you mentioned Lyn B., she has a fantastic toluene-free QDTC! And big refill bottles, too.

So true – I was going to buy a huge refill bottle on Black Friday and honestly I don’t think I can do it.
