I'm in Japan, and I discovered recently that a bunch of brands have mini sizes of their lip tints available !! I dont know if its new or if I just never noticed, but both Loft and Ainz Tulpe carry these mini sizes!
So, I thought it'd be fun to buy colors that i was interested in but didn't want to buy the full size in case I didn't like the formula or if it's a color that I didnt see myself using a lot. I also wanted to compare formulas and see which one I preferred, so I also tried to buy somewhat similar colors for a more accurate comparison! I'm a soft summer with fair neutral-cool olive tone.
For reference, each one was ~¥900 (approx. $5.86USD) for 1g of product, which is about half of the price of their full size versions.
Arm swatches – left is full pigment in natural light, right is blotted after 5 mins (same lighting).
Lip swatches – each is swatched full pigment in natural lighting & last photo is my lips with no product! i have rather pigmented lips, so keep that in mind with the lip swatches 😊
Onto the reviews!!
- Laka Fruity Glam Tint in "Maro"
This is my first time trying any Laka products, so I was super pleasantly surprised!! I loved the finish, my lips looked shiny and wasnt drying & the tint lasted a long time. I dry skin, so lip tints sometimes make my lips flaky and feel unpleasant throughout the day, but i didnt find that to be the case for this formula! The scent is also really nice, it smells like green apples to me. Definitely one of my new favorites, I want to try more colors in this formula!
Overall score is 5/5 , i think its my new favorite tint formula for winter 🤔
- Amuse Dew Tint in "Dew Boksoonga"
This color is warmer than i typically like, but i figured it would be nice for autumn 🍂 The texture is on the watery side, so its very light and comfortable to wear. Unfortunately, because it's watery the color doesnt show up as well on my lips – its a very light tinge of color, even at full opacity. Because of this, not too sure about the staying power because it was hard to notice 🤣 but on the arm swatches, it seemed to stain well so it could be nice for darker colors or if you have less pigmented natural lips. Scent is very light & faintly fruity.
Overall: 3/5
- Rom&nd Juicy Lasting Tint in Bare Grape
This color shows up differently than I expected on the arm vs lip swatches – on the arm it looks more nude/brown but on my lips it definitely has a pink-purple hue to it. similar to Amuse, texture is very light and watery. I don't think its "juicy" or "lasting" though 🤣 after wearing it for like an hour (no eating/drinking) my lips felt dry & crusty, and the color was gone! 😭 the color is pretty, but it goes away so quickly 🥲 Scent is also quite light & fruity, i feel like it smells like grapes? but with a chemical undertone
Overall: 1/5
- Hince Raw Lilac
& - Hince Raw Cherry
Ive been eyeing these colors for a little while now, so I decided to take the plunge and get both! The formula is more similar to Laka, as it shows up nicely & doesnt make my lips feel too dry & the finish has a pretty sheen to it. Maybe its my imagination, but i felt like they made my lips look a little plumper, too! They also lasted quite well throughout the day, similar wear time to Laka. Scent is really nice too, like fresh & fruity but i cant quite put my finger on it!
Overall: 4.5/5
Lasting power (from worst to best) is Rom&nd -> Amuse -> Hince -> Laka (but Hince & Laka are quite close!)
Overall, my thoughts are that I loved Hince and Laka the most because of their staying power, moisturizing finish, and color payoff. Laka was more creamy, but they were both thicker in formula whereas Amuse and Rom&nd were more watery, which i guess doesnt work as well with my lips!
Thank you for reading this LONG post and I hope it was helpful for someone!! 🩷
