I was looking for a new top coat after getting priced out of my favourite one. Emily De Molly and Cosmic Polish are more affordable where I live so I wanted to try out their range and see if they work for me.
I have no affiliations with these brands and purchased all products out of pocket. This is an honest review, I hope it helps others in the same position!
💅Top coats tested💅
- Cosmic Polish Warp Speed top coat
- Cosmic Polish Stellar Shine top coat
- Emily DeMolly Immortal top coat
- Emily DeMolly Fusion top coat
In the images I wore the top coats in the following order:
Left hand
– Pinky fusion
– Ring stellar shine
– Middle immortal
– Index warp speed
– Thumb stellar shine over warp speed
Right hand is opposite order and thumb is fusion over immortal. All are worn over Cosmic Polish Echoes of Eden.
💸Pricing (all prices are in AUD)💸
Cosmic Polish retails for $13, without a bulk option. On their website they say their bottle is 13.5ml, but the new bottles I’ve received are 15ml with visibly more polish. So it’s $0.87 per ml.
Emily de Molly top coats sell for different prices for some reason. Immortal is $10, fusion is $11, both for 12 ml. They also sell in bulk refills for $27 for 40 ml. That ranges from $0.92/$0.83 to a sexy $0.68 per ml if you get the bulk refill.
Compared to the $1.79 per ml I was spending on my last fav top coat this is a steal 😭
👃Smell👃
None smell that bad except Fusion. Wow she stanks. It smells like Swedish bitter. The rest smell normal for a top coat.
⏳Speed⏳
Immortal is super quick followed by warp speed. The other 2 top coats are close behind. TBH I was relatively impressed by all of them, they were dry to the touch and lightly dent proof in a reasonable time
✨Gloss✨
Immortal and warp speed are slightly less glossy, fusion and stellar shine are more shiny. But in practice they’re all glossy enough that I wouldn’t care. Stellar shine is the plumpest and glossiest, immortal and warp speed are comparable but I noticed more slight imperfections in immortal, and fusion is the least plumping.
🔨Wear test🔨
For durability, stellar shine was the worst. It crackles! It had a million hairline fractures, even when I layered it over warp speed. I’m not a fan.
The rest performed relatively well. I think fusion chipped more than the rest. I was happy with immortal and warp speed.
🤔My opinion🏆
EDM Immortal and CS Warp Speed are my favourites. They both dry fast and are durable and shiny. I’m more than satisfied with either of them as my new go-to, they’re solid all around.
I think I slightly prefer warp speed. I noticed immortal got scratched a bit easier and dried with these very slight streaks. However, it is really hard to compete with the price point of the immortal 40 ml refills.
I thought EDM Fusion was fine, but it’s stinky and was less plumping.
CS Stellar Shine was my least favourite. The crackling is not a flaw I can look past, I have flexible nails and I need a top coat to withstand that. I was disappointed it still crackled over stronger top coats, so it’s not even all that useful to add extra gloss.
I hope this helped other Aussie lacqueristas that were looking for a local option!

Cosmic polish is Australian? Woo! Another brand for me to buy with reasonable shipping prices!
Thank you for doing the hard work! This is a great reference for an Aussie who also cannot justify my current fav top coat.
I’ve tried warp speed and really liked it, but what impressed me more was Cosmic’s long lasting base coat. the mani I did with it stayed chip free for nearly 7 days – longer than usual for me – and it didn’t cause any splitting in my nails.
i didn’t have the same experience with stellar shine that you did, when i put it over warp speed it was fine for a day or two but then that layer alone started peeling… it was weird.
