I came across various videos of him stating that this gommage exfoilator doesnt do what its advertised – as weve seen countless advertisements that are a bit shady stating it will *instantly* remove black heads etc. I did fold and got the product from the dr melaxin store online directly.

I noticed that its not a magic serum, but it does wonders for my skin. It exfoliates as stated on the package, and removes all the dead skin cells.

Then we have "trusted" influencers like James Welsh who is denouncing this stating that its "impossible for exfoliators to shed skin"

Im no expert by any means, but isnt that the entire purpose of exfoliators in general?

"exfoliating removes dead skin cells from the outer layer of the skin, which can lead to a brighter, smoother, and more radiant complexion. By removing the buildup of dead cells, exfoliation also helps other skincare products to penetrate the skin more effectively, prevents clogged pores, and creates a smooth surface for makeup."

But just like any other gommage, the residue buildup is from oils, dead skin cells, and debris on the face… so technically the residue IS peeling away that stuff.

So i guess im entirely confused by his videos. I watch him, but he also promotes his own gommage exfoliator in his package and tiktok shop?

So hes hyper fixating on the "peel" part of it but at the same time denouncing what exfoliators do to further his point about the product itself?? very strange

One side of me appreciates transparency but the other side is questioning his authenticity and goal/aim here. Its so hard to trust these influencers when they care so much about marketing their own products.

  1. It’s a super short video. I think he’s just trying to fight the idea that the chunky bits the product creates are your skin. Those chunky bits are going to make a lot of people feel like the exfoliator is “really working,” and may make people doubt exfoliating products that don’t produce chunks.

I don’t particularly love him, but this video seems fairly apt and helpful to me.

  2. I think he is just nit picking. It seems like the brand is over indulging people with their claims. If you have any common sense you would realize you can’t remove blackheads instantly with an OTC product otherwise we wouldn’t have so many products to treat them. Plus he wants you to buy his products. Do your own research when buying products and don’t blindly take an influencer’s opinion, including dermatologists, as gospel. There are derms out there still claiming “micro tears” in skin are real. If
micro tears were a real thing, why don’t salt and sugar scrubs affect our bodies? There are plenty of sensitive areas on our body like our face. Apricot scrub keeps my skin smooth and has for 30 years. And I do have sensitive areas on my face so I avoid those areas or use a light touch.
