I recently picked up two Biore UV Aqua Rich sunscreens – one bought in the US, one in Canada.
Both have identical ingredients (same percentages too) and both say they’re manufactured in Canada, but here’s the weird part:
- The US version says “sunscreen” on the front
- The Canadian version says “lotion” instead
I’ve attached pics of both for reference.
Does anyone know if there’s any real difference between these two? Or is it just a labeling thing due to different regulations?
Would love to hear if anyone’s noticed this too!

I’d imagine it’s just labeling. The US regulates sunscreen as an over the counter drug regardless of the product and the SPF number so it has very strict labeling guidelines. For example the FDA banned the term sunblock in 2011 because it might’ve mislead consumers that it blocks UV entirely same thing for waterproof that term was banned as well because it could’ve mislead
