Just wanted to share my skin barrier recovery. I’ve been seeing some post/questions about this for a a little while so I thought I’d share mine. This sub has been so helpful too when I was doing my research.
So, a couple of months after having my baby, my skin became so dry, flaky, textured and sensitive. Using my skincare products made my skin stung especially moisturiser and spf. At first, I thought it was just dryness, but it turned out to be a damaged skin barrier.
In February, I followed a minimal routine for over 2 weeks:
- Saturday Skin Acai Oat Cleanser
- Hada Labo Hyaluronic Acid Lotion (Light)
- COSRX Snail Mucin Essence
- The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid + Niacinamide
- Etude Soon Jung Barrier Cream
- BOJ Relief Sun (stung a bit but used it anyway)
My skin improved but I reintroduced actives (vitamin C, exfoliants) and it flared up again. So in late March, I just stuck to basics – cleansing, toner, moisturiser and spf. No actives for 4 weeks.
Just added and switched a few stuff, but pretty much the same routine:
- Skin1004 Light Cleansing Oil
- Saturday Skin Acai Oat Cleanser
- Hada Labo Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Milk
- Etude Soon Jung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream
- Purito Wonder Releaf Centella Sun Lotion
- Vaseline (at night for occlusive)
It took nearly 2 months but my skin is finally calm, hydrated, and stable. Still sensitive, but I know how to support it now 🙂
Photos: The first 2 pics were when my barrier was damaged, the last one is my current skin (taken a few days ago).
