Skin type: Oily, dehydrated, mild acne.
Climate: Dry.
Age: Early 20s.

With the colder months settling in, I've been searching for serums that hydrate and the Torriden hyaluronic acid is amongst the top recommended here. So I bought it last week!

This was my first time applying HA in serum form, and actually the first acid-based serum I've ever used. I used it in the evening, once a day, for two days this past week. Applied it onto damp skin right after cleansing (CeraVe cleanser) and sealed it in with moisturiser (also CeraVe). Used about 3 drops for my whole face.

The thing is, a few minutes after application, I felt a very slight itch/tingle sensation on my face. No inflammation or redness, it was a very mild sensation but it was there and lingered throughout the night. Has anyone else experienced this using the serum? Since it's my first time using an acid serum, I want to ask if this is a normal aspect of using them? If so, did it take time for your skin to get used to it and do you still use the product?

I'm not sure if I should give up on it or not, I'm tempted to continue trying in case this is normal. I did a patch test on my hand and felt no weird sensation there 😭 This made me wonder if my face's skin barrier is compromised, but I don't use any exfoliators or other serums (only tried niacimadine in the past, my skin loved it) and I don't have a skin condition apart from mild acne. My routine is minimal, consisting only of cleanser, moisturiser, and sunscreen.

Other than that, pros I noticed were: no fragrance, sturdy bottle & dropper, the serum gets absorbed super fast (~1min) and it's consistency is neither too thick nor watery.

  1. Um 😅 I’m using this now and haven’t experienced any irritation/tingling at all. Something about it probably isn’t right for you.

I’m on my 6 th bottle twice a day (full dropper full) and it’s heaven for me. Doesn’t sound like it works for you?

  3. My skin type is the same as yours and it doesn’t like HA serums at all. I would get the same sensation and sometimes the redness on my face.
It could be whatever else it’s in this serum that your skin doesn’t like but also it might be HA itself

  4. My guess is, it’s because your skin is dehydrated-prone and you’re living in a dry climate. Altho you’ve already applied the serum on damp skin, your skin probably needs way more hydration than that, and in a dry climate, HA isn’t really that beneficial (there’s just not enough moisture around for it to work effectively). I’d recommend looking for HA free hydrating toner/serum instead.
