I've seen a few posts here noting the increased likelihood of finding gems of products at Marshall's and TJMaxx in the more affluent neighborhoods, but another thing to consider is the stores that are almost outrageously out of the way.
I went camping way out in Nowhereville and on the way back, in a town of about 7,000, was a very out of place TJ. My butt was about to fall off from all the driving so I stopped in. Not a ton of hype about skincare in that area, and oh my goodness, the repeated markdowns I saw on things that wouldn't make it a week in my local stores. I bought a few things I already own and love, and a whole bunch of new things to try just because of what they were marked down to. So here we go, all in one store basically out in the woods-
Naturie Hatomugi Skin Conditioner – I've been using this for a bit, but actually only on my arms and legs. I love how soft my skin is after I use it, and for two dollars?!
Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Toner – a new one for me, frequently raved about in here. Excited to give it a try.
Shiseido Complete Cleansing Microfoam – another one I already have. My face loves it, and I really love the smell
Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask – another new one for me that I've heard great things about
Ma:nyo bifida biome Complex Ampoule – also new, also heard good things.
Cosrx AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner – also new. I use and enjoy a few other things from this brand, and thought for three dollars I might be able to put it to use somewhere.
Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Cleansing Oil – one of the few items I bought that was not discounted. My usual cleansing oil is Hada Labo, which I absolutely love and just recently learned has been discontinued. I had been told this one was very good, but hadn't made the plunge yet. Since I happened to run into it, I went for it. I've used it once and after the scentless Hada Labo was surprised by how pungent it was. I don't think it's a bad smell, it just really threw me off since I've never used one with a smell haha
Beauty of Joseon Glow Deep Serum – I've used this one every three days for about a month but haven't noticed much of a difference. Just gonna run through the bottle and see I guess.
Glamfox Retinol + Collagen Serum – honestly, I've never heard of this brand. Trying to research them doesn't yield a lot of information, but in my cell serviceless shopping spree it was so cheap that I figured I could toss it if it was a bad choice. I am still not sure if it was a bad choice. :p
Beauty of Joseon Revive Serum – another new one. Haven't tried it yet. Probably a few months from trying it yet, I'm trying to be nice to my stupid lame skin barrier.
Etude Soonjung 2x barrier intensive cream – another that hadn't been marked down. I believe this is the reformulation that some folks were displeased with, though others said it was still the greatest thing that ever happened to their face. Another new one for me.
Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Lotion – I LOVE the consistency of this one. I like me a runny lotion that doesn't gum up my business. Good for if I don't have time to wait around for something to sink in for ages.
So there you go! It was a huge and pleasant surprise to find all this basically twenty steps outside a state forest. Turns out bears and deer are kinda meh on skincare.
