I recently purchased 2 bottles of TIRTIR Milk Skin Toner on Amazon. And as with EVERY AB products on Amazon, you need to make sure the T’s are crossed and the I’s are dotted to confirm they aren’t counterfeit. So when I initially received the second bottle, I quickly compared the packaging of both and to my surprise, the content on the back of the product, in terms of spacing, the additional UK/EU distribution foot note, and 3 ingredients that were on one box and not the other. The ingredients were:
sorbic acid
sodium dodoxynol-40 sulfate
amaranthus caudatus SEED extract (other box didn’t have the word SEED)
I was absolutely positive I went through their Amazon storefront when I purchased them but still weary about the authenticity because it’s Amazon! I asked around and even went to a local store to inquire. Had a mixed bag of answers on the legitimacy of the products.
So I messaged TIRTIR directly with my findings, and they said they would circle back when they have the most accurate info.
And they responded with a detailed response which I appreciated.
“The two products have the same content, but the difference is how much more detail they explain the content according to U.S. laws and notation that are updated every year.
Let us explain it to you as an example. Composite ingredient A was indicated in 2023, if it exceeded a specific percentage of the ingredients, but in 2024, all the ingredients constituting the ingredients were indicated. Therefore, sorbic acid and sodium dodoxynol-40 sulfate are tiny at 0.004% and 0.03%, which didn't have to indicated, but the latest version will be marked on the surface of the box. The amaranthus caudatus SEED extract is similar case. Previously, the description of the raw materials was covered with a larger part, but now some raw materials are required to explain and indicate where the exactly extraction was made.
However, the sulfate free is caused by our confusion, and we deeply apologize for this. As explained above, it should be not appear as sulfate free as we have it in the full ingredient list. Thank you for your understanding and the wrong information is under correction as it needs some time to be reflected on Amazon system. Best regards, TIRTIR”
This info might come in handy when other AB products labeling might differ in the future.
TLDR: TIRTIR via amazon storefront is indeed 100% authentic. The difference is in how thoroughly they explain the content based on US laws and yearly updates.
