I recently purchased the Round Lab Vita Niacin Blemish Serum from Olive Young. I thought I’d write a little review. I’ve only been using it for a few days so this will mostly focus on the packaging, ingredients, and texture of the product.
To start, the packaging is adorable. It’s so bright and happy and well, yellow 🥹. Super cute. It contains 30ml of product. I will say the dropper does not dispense a lot of product. I have to dispense the entire contents of the pipette twice in order to have an appropriate amount of serum for my face and neck.
The 2 star ingredients for this serum are Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea-Buckthorn) Fruit Water, Niacinamide, and Panthenol. The Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Water has a concentration of 73%, the concentration of Niacinamide is 5%, and the concentration of Panthenol is 1%. The marketing also highlights Hippophae Rhamnoides Extract and 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, but they’re included at such low concentrations I doubt they provide any real benefit.
I purchased the serum mainly for the 5% Niacinamide. My skin is very sensitive and can’t really handle Retinol or L-Ascorbic Acid so I use Niacinamide instead. I make sure to only use 5% because I’ve read that concentrations higher than that have a potential to irritate and I don’t want to take any chances.
The serum itself is very watery. There’s not a lot of body to it at all. I was actually taken aback by that the first time I used it because I sort of expect serums to be on the more viscous side. The serum is absorbed by my skin very quickly and literally feels like nothing once it’s absorbed. There is no sticky/tacky finish or anything like that with this serum so that’s nice. It doesn’t feel like it offers any additional hydration so if you look for that in a serum you’d best steer clear of this one.
Finally, I’ll mention the serum does have a very slight fragrance. I would describe it as fruity, vaguely citrus. It’s not strong at all and definitely isn’t offensive.
It also came with a little 10ml sample of the Vita Niacin Blemish Cream, but I haven’t tried it yet.
