Left: Lancôme lash idole mascara in black
Right: Art Class magicurl fixing mascara in black
The Lancôme retails for $30 and I got the art class for less than $10 when I was in Korea. I think it’s more expensive in the US but you can get similar kbeauty mascaras for around the same price here.
I’ve spoken in the past about how my project pan experience has helped me realize the importance of investing in high quality products rather than dupes, but the opposite is true as well. It’s all about understanding your features and how you need your products to perform. For example, I have dry, textured skin so no drugstore foundation has ever worked for me, and instead of wasting money on dupes, I’ve learned only go for high end foundations. In contrast, my eyelashes are naturally long and curly, so every mascara works exactly the same on them. Idk what I was thinking splurging $30 on a mascara but never again 😤
Overall, here are categories I splurge vs save on:
Splurge: all base products (foundation, concealer, bronzer, blush, powder, highlighter), matte lipstick, setting spray
Save: all eye products (mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow), all brow products (brow pencil, gel, pen), primer, and lip gloss
I’m curious what other people’s splurge vs save categories are!
