I’ve been lucky enough to get a hold of Jeon Somi’s new highlighter quad, the Illuètte Highlighter Palette.
I live in Korea so I’ve been able to get it the day it dropped. It’s currently only available in Korea, but it seems like they’re working on a US launch.
It’s a baked highlighter which lasts really long. There’s no fallout and it adheres to the skin very nicely.
Each shade has slightly different finishes. I’d say the pink (Tralala) and champagne (Edward) shades have the most colour and glitter payoff. Then, I’d put the blue shade (Krisp) next because the payoff isn’t as strong as the aforementioned two. Lastly, I’d place the lilac shade (Umph) because it’s on the sheer side.
Top Left: Tralala
A bright pink shade. Could work as a blush, or would really be pretty as a topper.
Top Right: Edward
A classic champagne highlighter shade. I’d say this leans quite neutral. It definitely doesn’t lean super warm.
Bottom Left: Krisp
An icy blue shade. It actually leans whitish, so it’s not super blue. You could definitely pull this off with a more neutral look.
Bottom Right: Umph
A pink-lilac iridescent shade. Tbh I don’t think it’s giving UMPH because the payoff is quite subtle and, well, underwhelming. It’s marketed as a lilac shade but tends to lean pink on the skin.
This has been my daily driver since I only ever reach out for this palette! Like LeoJ said in his review, they’re actually quite wearable on a daily basis, despite the shades in the pan.
I haven’t used many highlighters out there, but I think the price of 43,000 won is a bit high because of the discrepancy of payoff depending on the shade — it just didn’t feel consistent. They did have a 15% sale during certain drops, and I think that price is far more justifiable.
Fun fact: In Korea, all makeup products must have an expiration date imprinted on the product itself. However, for the first batch, they forgot to, so they provided refunds to everyone who got the “flawed” quads. I was one of them!
