So I was looking for a physical sunscreen yesterday in my local care store and spotted this. It was half off!
I remember seeing this sunscreen being a holy grail in the sub multiple times, so I grabbed two thinking I’ve scored another great sunscreen at a good price. I thought of grabbing four – which were all there were on the shelf – but I told myself I should try it first.
I have a sensitive, oily, acne-prone, light-medium neutral skin tone. I’ve been using physical sunscreens like Skin Aqua, Axis-Y and Torriden, and they were great. Since I stopped using chemical sunscreens, my skin breaks out a lot less.
Sure, there is a slight white cast, but luckily it isn’t obvious on me, and I really like the matte effect physical sunscreens give.
Thinking this sunscreen is going to be like the ones I’ve used previously, I finally applied it, and… It wasn’t.
It was such a disappointment – the runny, watery texture is fine, but it is SUPER sticky, and I feel like it’s kind of comedogenic because I can feel it trapping my sweat and body heat. I had to dab the stickiness off with a paper towel, and it clung to my skin! I used it on my arms, and I feel like I have glue on.
The finish is nice, but I can’t stand the stickiness. I’ll be going back to my tried-and-true holy grail physical sunscreens.
It turns out the sunscreen everyone raved about was discontinued, and this is a completely different sunscreen using the same name.
On that note, what physical sunscreens do you like, and works wonderfully for you?
