I have dry skin, hormonal acne, and lots of dark scarring and melasma. It’s getting cold and very dry where I live.
I decided to dive in to Asian skincare when I started tret and my face went to total crap. Nothing I could buy locally felt hydrating, calming, moisturizing enough. I’ve been careful with only adding 1 new thing per week.
What I’ve tried so far:
Cosrx Propolis Toner: I immediately loved this. Have had no bad reactions, and it’s the first thing I put on after washing my face both AM and PM. I noticed calming and improvement in skin tone pretty quickly. WRP forever and ever.
Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Asiatica ampoule: at first, I thought it was unnecessary, but I started using it just on areas that are super dry & have current open wounds (skin picking problems), and I feel like things heal faster and overall just feels really nice. I don’t know if I will repurchase since I feel like using it kind of as-needed, and the 100 mL size will last a long time. I do this as a second layer AM and PM before tret.
Soon Jung Moist Emulsion: love it. Feels really hydrating, no bad reactions, sits well under makeup. The pump squeaks a little when I press it and I find that cute. I feel like it’ll last a long time too, and probably be ok on its own in the summer time. I do this 3rd AM and after tret in PM. WRP
Torriden Solid In ceramide lip essence: it’s ok. Don’t feel like it does any more than a layer of Aquaphor, so probably won’t repurchase.
Illyoon ceramide ato concentrate cream: I think I don’t like this, but I’m going to give it more time. It’s horrible in the morning under makeup. Im so flaky immediately compared to my tried and true vanicream. I’ve been globbing it on at night over tret, and I wake up with my face so dry and tight. WNRP unless it miraculously starts working.
Purito Daily Soft Touch SUncreen: this is ok. Im not wowed, but don’t really have complaints either. I look pretty shiny after applying, but since my skin is dry AF, I’ll take the dewy-ness when I can. Will probably try something new next time around.
I was going to try the Sulwhasoo mask next, but I think I’ll work in another of the toners to add some hydration during the day instead.
