I’ve see a few posts and comments about weird shaped, basically trapezoid, nail beds so I wanted to share mine!
This post is basically “Filing your nails to reshape them? Ground breaking” lol but I wanted to show my usual routine in case it helps anyone! I say “fixing” in the title because as they grow out the trapezoid shape returns, at least it does for me.
This is how it looks if you aggressively file the sides of these shaped nails. I would say I have to let my nails grow out a bit longer than a typical nail bed to achieve a rounded shape, otherwise it’s basically square.
Last image is with polish for an early St Patties look, I did the smallest amount of shape correcting here by avoiding the widest part of my nail and trying to drag the polish straight from my cuticle to the free edge. You could be a lot more aggressive with the color placement to make them look like thinner nail beds.

My nail beds are all shaped a little bit differently, and precisely *two* of them are this shape. I would say that my experience with them — having to grow them out and aggressively and carefully shape them — line up with yours. Thank you for this post!
