Here’s the Japanese sake rice alcohol brewery brand that’s behind the Kikumasamune high moist toner! I got a chance to try sake this year at a Japanese new year party. Just thought kiku die hard fans would find this interesting to see the sake brand that makes kikumasamune toners irl!
Also have a PSA regarding kiku high moist toner for people who have horse and animal allergies. I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere on this sub about allergies to horse placenta.
This is my review of kikumasamune high moist. I really wanted to love it because it’s so affordable, great ingredients and good for hyperpigmentation. Unfortunately, through testing the product, it turns out I’m allergic to horse placental protein.
I’m allergic to live horses, farm animals and animal meats. I was hoping I wouldn’t be allergic since I can have jello and placenta isn’t totally meat, but it was the worst reaction I’ve ever had with AB skincare products. I have trouble with animal proteins and milk and milk sugars, so it tracks I’m also allergic to kikumasamune since placental protein is a protein. I wheezed, my face broke out, I got a mottled, snake skin ish, dry red itchy rash, and I generally felt allergic and the texture of the toner felt oily and dry on me. It also caused red acne to form.
For testing, I tried for 4 days and that’s all I could handle before I was really suffering. I dreaded putting it on because I knew I would wheeze after each application but I also wanted to give it a thorough try since and sometimes things get worse before they get better. Definitely not the case for me though. It got worse and worse.
I kept trying because so many people love this and it’s affordable and the ingredients targeted what I wanted since I am acne prone, have eczema, my doctor says I may have rosacea, redness and hyperpigmentation, dry and dehydrated, sensitive skin. It made me splotchy and gave me patches of rashes too. Sigh
Never again. Have to avoid any placental protein products now, which is in a surprising amount of bulk size japanese toners. Sigh. To my knowledge, there is only one line of products that is placental protein free by Kikumasamune. It is the mens line and if I recall, does not have fragrance. They have a light and rich version. People have mixed reviews on it but it is smaller and significantly more expensive than the regular bulk kiku toners.
Regarding future products I test, I also will have to be mindful of products containing collagen now, since I’m not sure if I’m allergic to that too. Collagen is very common is Japanese products. I think it’s in Kose, skin aqua, Hada labo.
To anyone who has animal allergies, especially to horses, I just wanted to make ABers aware that horse placental proteins have a chance of triggering allergies and asthma, if you are allergic to animals/horses and have those conditions. Caution and research are the best for allergy ABers <3
I hope this helps others. I’m sure I can’t be the only person in the world allergic to placental protein. But when I was searching googling and this sub before I bought the kiku, no one else mentioned having an allergy to the placental protein, so I felt super alone since everyone loves kikumasamune. The New Years kikumasamune sake reminded me I should make this post!
I’ve gained a lot from this sub over the years and I love this community and turn to it for fun and comfort. So I hope this helps someone make informed decisions, in case they have allergies.
