First press on design, looking for advice

Hello guys, I am new to anything about nails and nail art, but I recently bought supplies to do my own nails and save money.

I made these press ons and I’m pretty disappointed. I was wondering if yall had any advice on how to make them look better.

I was really bothered by how thick the nails were and they look horrible taped on my fingers. I’m not sure if it was too many layers, or bad technique.

I know they’re kind of ugly 😭 any advice helps!
