these are my current nails, i stumbled across a new place and i love the way they look + think they did a great job, soo much better than my old salon! but ive been getting my nails done for about a year and i’ve never actually gotten a fill in before, just new sets each time. this set was $120 (to remove my old set + new set + tips + builder gel + cat eye im guessing) but they said if i just go back for a fill in 2 weeks, it would only be $50. they’ll keep the shape, but will they let me change the color? or do i have to keep the same one? are they going to keep the same tips, and will a fill in be as durable as a new set? these might be silly questions lol but i’ve never asked for one before so i wanna be prepared 🙂

Yes, a fill means you can change the color and shape if you want! I very rarely get a completely new set, but I would say every 4-6 months it’s good to start fresh. Fills are just as durable.
Yes, they will allow you to change colors because they need to file off at least 80% ish of the product. Once they get there they’ll see the integrity of the old set and see if any lifting is present and asses where to go from there, it is totally safe and ok to refill healthy nails 🙂
I normally don’t let my clients go more than 3 fills tops without a soak off (if appointments are kept to 2-3 weeks), depending on what we’re working with.
Your hands are beautiful!!!
I don’t have anything to comment on like fill ins sorry (never gotten them myself bc i end up ripping off my nails anyways and put myself in nail extension time-out until my nails (and bad habits) get healthier)
i absolutely LOVE that color! it goes great with your skin tone too
Yup, you can change color and design. If you let them get a little longer you could change shape as well (i’ve gone from stiletto to coffin before). Fills are great- you’ll love how much money you save lol. Usually you can go 4 weeks before needing a fill though, so 50 a month is quite good.
I want to say, I had the exact same questions as you in 2024 when I got my first fill. I felt so silly texting my nail tech and asking her if getting a fill would mean I could still change my design/color lol. She was very kind and explained it to me. So don’t feel silly, i’m sure your people have explained nail terms to customers many times and would be happy to explain them to you 🙂
