My two weaknesses:

– Buying an extra polish “to make the most of shipping” even though I really only wanted the one I sought out.

– Breaking my 80% rule. I’m quite neurotic about having a cohesive capsule wardrobe and if a polish doesn’t feel right with 80% of what I wear, I’m going to end up passing it on to a new home.

For me, I really love lavender, lilac, and all other light purple colors but boy do they look weird on my yellow skin tone (Asian problems). I’ve found the ones with a warm shimmer can look decent but I’ve had to destash most of my light purple cremes for this reason.

    1. Clashes with my yellow undertones. Eg. reds looking orange, blues looking green, pastels

    2. Duping my existing collection

Sometimes, if there’s a good sale, I’ll buy a color that doesn’t usually look good on me “just to experiment.” 99% of the time, it still doesn’t look good on me.

Usually FOMO and/or I think I’ll like it, but the dominant color in most lighting is a color I don’t love on me. Maybe the wrong color shimmer. Or I pick up something really unique and then it doesn’t look right on me.

I might be weird but I’ll add a few drops of other polish to slightly change a color that I’m not loving into something I’ll love (same ingredient polish).

  6. Honestly sometimes I make impulse buys after a few drinks and I end up mostly destashing those lmao. My impulse buys have gone way down since I stopped drinking 😂

  7. For a while I kept buying the same pink/gold shimmer in lavender or blue or light green bases because the pictures would look gorgeous and somehow you’d have the whole rainbow in a single polish. I NEVER like it on me – it’s usually the shimmer specifically, but I just hate the combination. I’m giving a bunch of them test re-wears now that it’s spring to make sure I want to destash, but I can’t imagine holding on to more than one or two.

  8. Being disappointed that it doesn’t look as good on me as it does with the deliberate lighting, etc. of the swatch image.

  9. In my case, if it just doesn’t look right with my undertone. I love neutrals and light pinks, but there are many formulas for different bodies. Sometimes you just have to try something to realize it doesn’t work on you.
