Asked for tortoise shell nails (reference photo second pic) and this is what I got. I'm not as upset as I normally would be because I went in knowing that they might not be able to pull them off. When I go back in 3 weeks for birthday nails, now know the guy I had cannot do tortoise shell nails. But if you don't keep reference photo in mind, I guess they're cool if I pretend I asked for marble nails lol. Would you hate these as is though?

Def not tortoiseshell, but they are cool! Interesting though bc the technique he used to make these is not dissimilar from one method of doing tortoiseshell. He just did the dark layer as the base instead of doing a jelly orange as the base and built up from there. I bet he could do it well with a little more detail, pending there isn’t a big language barrier.

These look so very cool, but yea. I would be upset if I wanted the ref. This is completely different. But like, if you are into it, I feel these are actually so cool.

My husband agrees – I did my own tortoise shell last week (my first attempt at ANY pattern) and they turned out better.
These are nice, but not tortoise! 🐢
Not tortoise shell but still beautiful. I’d be irritated it’s not what I wanted. But I would probably keep them anyway. And make sure to get a different tech next time.

i agree w everyone they are not tortoise but very cool, would suggest an amber base with blooming gel brown specks
