Hi there! I’m on vacation and spent some time in the pool and hot tub, which resulted in some premature chipping of my mani. I’m wondering what the swimmers in this group do to guard their mani’s against the chlorine. Or do you just paint your nails every 3 days? Looking forward to hearing tips from the swimming lacqueristas.

Pics 1-2 are freshly painted, pic 3 is after chipping and repair with nail art stickers.

I’m not a swimmer, but I do use jojoba oil prior to water exposure and that seems to help a bit! Also, your nails look great! The glow is insane.

Pool + hot tub is basically the perfect combo for chipping — water makes the nail swell and then shrink again as it dries, which weakens the polish bond.

A few things that help a lot:
    – Reapply a fresh top coat every 2–3 days (this makes the biggest difference)
    – Seal the free edge really well
    – Cuticle oil after swimming to rebalance moisture
    – If you’re in the water a lot, wearing gloves (even just sometimes) helps more than people think

You don’t have to repaint every few days, but maintenance (top coat refresh) is key.
