These pictures show the results of my acrylic nails I got around 2 months ago— whenever I go to this salon this always happens even with different nail techs. Is it normal for them to file deep into the nail when they apply acrylics? I really want to get my nails done but it ends up hurting because of how flimsy the nail gets 😣 just want to know if this is typical or if I should find a new salon! I know my nails look horrible, which is why im in need 😭 I just need to know if nail techs usually file the nails down like this!

I do my nails at home so not in any way a nail tech. ABSOLUTELY NOT DO NOT GO BACK THERE they are destroying your nails. I’d be back in there getting my money back
Not normal at all. Those are what’s called Rings of Fire. They are drilling down into your natural nail far too deeply when they should be buffing off the surface shine only. When this happens to me, any subsequent product they place on top that is light cured hurts. Let them rest and grow out, and then go to another salon entirely.
Jesus fucking Christ, that’s probably the worst I’ve seen to be quite honest with you, OP.
First of all, never go back and second of all, write a Google review with a picture of your nails attached. People need to know.
I’ve been having acrylics done for just over a year, i’ve NEVER had a tech file my nails down that far when doing an infill or a new set. Even when removing them, they didn’t file right down to my natural nail, they only filed off the top layer and then used acetone/acrylic remover to soak off the rest.
I’d never go back to a place that does that to your nails! Until that grows out, i’d say not to have anything done on them. Let the damage grow out 1st.
I’ve seen some rings of fire pictures in my time, but wow. Absolutely no way they should be doing that.
I’m sooooo sorry! 😭😭😭😭😭
Stop going to these people who take your hard earned money! I was tired of nail places not being quality anymore and thus, did nails on my own.
If you do go to nail tech, find at least an independent or highly professional salon, maybe at least one manicure because those are expensive and time consuming (but worth it because you don’t leave in pain and suffering!) .
But those grooves are so deep I don’t know what a reputable could nail tech do, the gel or acrylic could just make things worse.
I say go to nail jail and let those grow out until you book an amazing nail tech.
Consider my flabbers gasted. This shouldn’t happen, like ever. In how much pain are you each time? That should be an indicator that this is wrong and they don’t know WTF they are doing.

THE DENTS 😭 never go back.
Omg that looks so painful I shuddered seeing that side view 😩😩 take lots and lots of care of those! Definitely rings of fire
Holy shit that’s like a millimetre deep and they still didn’t get all the colour out. Do NOT go back to these butchers, like ever.
They do this to skip the soak off and save 20 minutes, just to fit in another client. Learned my lesson never went back to salons.
Oh jeez!! Sorry they did this to you. But the good news is they’re soooo far down your nail plate that they will grow out in no time.
Ahhh I’m so sorry they did this to you!! This is not okay. I’ve been through the same thing.
Here’s what helped me heal and be in less pain:
– Cut nails as short as possible without hurting yourself. Aesthetically, I know this is not preferable but you’ll be in so much less pain if they’re not catching on stuff!
– Get a protective healing base layer and paint those over your nail. It will help create a barrier and will give them a little shine which helps with feeling boring and stubby.
– Just be patient and let them grow out before allowing any length.
I hope you feel better soon and NEVER go back to this place again.
These images made me wince, I’m so sorry OP.
I have a salon around the corner and they did this one of my nails. I never went back. The place I go to is nearly 2 hrs away but they take care of my nails
