I bought this to try finally because of the claims. And also because it's the hottest season in the PH right now, I thought this would be the perfect time to test how it actually performs.
☀️Product claims (from Ratzilla):
Biore says this is a sports‑oriented SPF50+ PA++++ sunscreen with tough boost and durable outer skin tech that creates a UV‑protective layer designed to stay put under heat and heavy sweat/friction, plus very strong water resistance. It’s also said to keep skin moisturised with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and royal jelly, and can double as a makeup base.
☀️ UV filters: Hybrid (Zinc Oxide, Octisalate, Uvinul T 150, Uvinul A Plus, and Tinosorb S.)
☀️ First impressions
* I really didn't expect this to be non-greasy since in the past I’ve used western sports sunscreens and hated them. Sports sunscreens in a lotion format are usually greasy and with a heavy sunscreen smell.
* This one does have a scent too, but it doesn’t smell like other Biore sunscreens. I couldn’t describe the added fragrance well, but it complements the scent of zinc oxide. It’s there, but not in-your-face.
* Texture is as if milk-type sunscreens married a gel-type sunscreen. It spreads easily with a bit of body.
* This feels a bit hydrating
* Has a faint white cast on my light-medium skin (I’m in the shade nars patagonia), but not super obvious
I’ve also tried the discontinued Athlizm milk before, which was more matte, but using it daily gave me dry patches, so I only used that for extreme UV days. Compared to that, this essence version feels more balanced and wearable.
☀️ Real-life heat test. I tested this around 2 PM with a UV index of 11:
- Applied on face, neck, and arms
- Walked ~15 mins to the gym
What stood out to me:
- My face didn’t get as sweaty compared to when I use lighter sunscreens like Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence or Kose Suncut Gel
- Water resistance is legit! I could see beading on my sweaty hairline
- I didn’t leave dewy marks on gym seats, which usually happens when I use non‑milk type sunscreens and my arms come in contact with them.
🌟 Finish
*Hydrated but soft-matte with a subtle glow, not dewy
*Slight white cast (not super noticeable on my tone, but may show on deeper tones)
* Definitely less dewy than Biore Aqua Rich and Kose Suncut Gel
* Reminds me of the finish of Biore Airy Hold, but with a slight white cast
* Leaves a slightly powdery feel once fully dried
* Has a bit of oil control on me, but not as much as the milk-type sunscreens
☀️ Wear and feel
- Feels a bit hydrating without being greasy
- Holds up well in sweat and heat
- I personally haven’t tried this under makeup since I already have sunscreens I prefer for that purpose, but for outdoor or high-sweat situations, this performs really well. According to product claims, however, this could double as a makeup base.
☀️ Pros & Cons
Pros:
* Performs really well in heat and sweat
* Less greasy than typical sports sunscreens
* Makes my face less sweaty vs Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence or Kose Suncut Gel
* Doesn’t transfer easily (no gym seat marks)
* Easy to apply enough (2-finger method friendly)
* Very water-resistant (you can literally see it bead
* Has a bit of oil control
Cons:
* Alcohol content
* Slight white cast
* Has fragrance
* Harder to remove with gentle cleansers. This can be a pro or a con, honestly. I tried removing it with a Dove bar soap (soap-free type) and could still smell the sunscreen on my arms after. But when I used an SLS-based cleanser, it came off properly.
☀️Final thoughts
This is a really good sunscreen. I wouldn’t reach for this as my main daily sunscreen just because I have others I prefer for that purpose. But for gym days, running, and high uv index days where I would be outdoors, this is now my new go-to! It also feels like a good middle ground between very lightweight sunscreens that don’t hold up in sweat and heavy sports sunscreens that feel greasy and thick. I would definitely repurchase this as long as I haven't found a better sports sunscreen.
