I started this gel press on set, and I was already a few hours deep when I realized how unsatisfied with the art I was. I’m in no way professional but I just feel so un impressed by my art and can’t help but compare myself to others. I feel like a lot of artists do this too but it still sucks to try your best and not match what you have in your head.

MY MAIN REASON for posting this is not for compliments, but how I can get better tips and tricks is it the gel I use? Is it the brushes? do I need high-quality stuff I can only afford so much. I feel like I’ve watched a million tutorials and still can’t get nice lines 😤😤😤IM TIRED OF THIS GRANDPA!!

I would say it just genuinely takes practice. You will get there, and you will be so happy for sticking with it. Nails are a labor of love for yourself. Take it a little bit slower, and never cure if you aren’t happy with the design! You got this U^ェ^U

It looks like you are going a little heavy handed on the linework and the shapes. Really wipe off the excess on whatever liner brush you are using and just kind of lightly drag it across the nail and go in small sections for the bigger lines. Linework stuff is SO hard and I struggle with it too as fairly new person to the nail world. Maybe better quality stuff helps, but I use Beetles polishes and brushes and they’ve done well for me.

    WELL THAT’S TOO DAMN BAD.

In all seriousness tho, sometimes brushes can make a difference, but generally u can make any supplies work if u have the base skills.

I’ve been an artist my whole life. Since I could pickup a pen, I was drawing, coloring, parking, any craft I could get my hands on I was doing on a daily basis. Nail art was just another medium using the same skills. It took a couple months to get used to miniature painting since I’d only done it a few times for mini clay art and nail art as a kid.

If u aren’t an artist already, there’s a pretty big learning curve. Even if ur a painter, doing everything on such a small scale can take time to perfect. But that’s why gel is so awesome, if there’s a line u don’t like, u can wipe it away without sacrificing everything underneath as long as ur careful with when ur curing ur layers.

It takes time. So take ur time, and if ur this much of a perfectionist, then maybe don’t cure something ur not happy with.

Keep going don’t give up. Keep practicing. You will get there. Just work on your brush strokes.

It looks pretty good honestly just a little heavy handed, which takes practice to work on. Are you using gels that are meant for nail art? I’m not super well versed in gels, I’m more of a lacquer person, but I know that there are gels that are meant for nail art that are supposed to be a bit thinner and easier to work with.

Another thing that I have noticed helps me is having a good variety of brushes. You do t need super crazy good quality brushes to get good practice in, but it’s good to have options. I started out doing nail art using craft brushes I’d cut into fine tips, and now I use some nicer quality brushes that I invested in a bit. They are easier to work with, but not enough to *need* them, so if you can’t afford them you can do what I did. There’s also tons of cheap brush options online that are already a fine tip, I just used what I had at the time.

I love the design you did on this set! Super fine detail brushes really make a huge difference
