I see finger tattoos a lot and I’m so torn by “yolo” and “god I’d be so mad if they blew out”
I also work with my hands so I worry about fading, so I’m interested to read the comments from lacqueristas/os too!

I love mine, but I have a few that have blown out a bit. A lot of people claim it to be painful to get but I enjoy the pain and have a high pain tolerance. You’ll just have to find an artist that does finger tats & ask yourself if you truly want the tattoos.

Oh man I think they’re so fucking cute! You have great hands/fingers for it too. I don’t think my hands are quite elegant enough for them but I reallllly am considering trying it out anyway since I won’t have the money for bigger ink any time soon. Sorry, tangent.
As far as blow out and fading goes, that will depend on your artist and your aftercare mostly I think. I’d try to find someone who enjoys working on hands and go from there. I have a couple of friends who’ve had this done and mostly just a touch up might be needed it all. One of them has colored dots (rainbow, it’s so cute) that has actually stayed quite well, even the orange and yellow.

I can’t guarantee that I remember this correctly, but I think I’ve seen a post where the nail showed some odd deformity exactly over the nail tattoo and it was speculated that the tattooing process might have damaged the nail matrix.

Mine are probably about 6-7 years old at this point and still hanging in. It does hurt given it’s the fingers but honestly it’s over so quick it doesn’t really register.
Every time I see those I am tempted to get them too. Tattoos on hands can look so good. Your “mock-ups” look great! <3 I myself might try henna or something to see how I’d like them in longer term.
I also wonder: is there any meaning or symbolic stuff behind this style?

From what I know, “stick and poke” tattoos do the best job of staying and not blowing out on fingers and palms.

Ooh I can help with this!
I got my lil dots in October of 2019, here’s what they look like today. I paid $0, my artist just did this after she did the actual thing I was there for. Zero regrets I really like my lil dots.
(messy polish on my stubby nails is ILNP petals w/Seche Vite top coat)
Bonus, if you want to see a 21 year old fingerstache I can help with that too 🤓

I’d probably avoid the four diamond shaped dots as I’d assume they’ll blur into each other over time. Tattoos don’t have to blow out to blur. They just do that with time and age. But the single dots should stay mostly good long term, aside from the natural blurring.

Not the best photo at I’m generally more focused on my nails not my tattoos but I got mine last June. Some fading on the stars close to my finger nails, no blowout. The artist I went to was very gentle and light handed. She also offered lifetime touchups. I just don’t have a lot of spare time to go in and get them fixed up lol
I’m also a dog groomer and I’m really hard on my hands for work. Constantly in and out of water.
So not dots, but I do have a diamond. There is definite blowout towards the bottom but I still love it. Theres no way to know how your skin will react but if you go to a reputable artist your chances of blowout are lower.
