To be honest, it feels like they're just using marketing and jargon to get around the fact that they themselves said the products were rejects of large brands

This concept is also such an out for bad products they launch. Since you’re just paying into a “focus group” that gives them cover to not stand behind the products they launch and that you’ve paid for. They can just launch fail after fail and just go “hehehe yeah that was bad, maybe the next one will be good, thanks for the money!”
