I found a bottle of polish while cleaning and decided to paint my nails. For a first attempt in years, not great. The sides are messy. Did my best to clean it with nail polish remover. Tips for a better application?

I tried to brush the sides and then the middle

Nor sure if this is a factor, but the bottle of polish is old and came out really thick. It was hard to spread and i couldn’t get a thin coat.

  1. I used china glaze nail laquer in liquid leather (70576) and sally hansen nail polish remover

Get a decent (cheap) clean up brush and some 100% acetone. Put it on sloppy and clean up the edges after.

I do three manicures a week on myself, I do nail art, use stamping plates, I do ombré, and transitions etc. still can’t get my Cindy (right hand) base application as neat as I want. So I just got better at the tidy up after.

Kelli Marissa on YouTube has some really good application guides for beginners.

Practice, clean up, Cindy first, practice, be forgiving – no one is looking that closely and practice some more.

When painting strand the hand that’s doing the work. I put the heel of my palm on the arm of the chair/sofa. When I first starter I realised sometimes it’s easier to move the nail than the brush.

    Thats all I’ve got.
