I really want these acrylic overlays off. I’ve always preferred to keep my nails natural, especially in this economy, but about 13 weeks ago a salon talked me into a hard gel overlay. I was horrified to discover they are grind-off only.
When I went back to have them removed, the tech was very aggressive with the process and my nails ended up wafer thin. It honestly felt like she couldn’t understand why I would want to go back to natural.
Because they were so thin, I went to a new owner/operator shop and had acrylic overlays applied for protection while they grow out. So right now I have acrylic on top of already damaged nails.
I’ve been using sheer, glittery lacquers to help disguise the imperfections. They look nice on top, but underneath there is still a lot of damage.
I go back to the new place in 8 days for a proper soak off. After that, I plan to cut them down significantly and focus on regrowth.
Has anyone else dealt with something similar or had a bad removal experience?
