I went around the nail in a circle with the magnet and that’s how I got the effect I ended up liking. He was very happy with the glitter. I did not touch under his nails or his cuticles because he isn’t comfortable with it. I did the same design with a different color but same glitter on my nails. Also I got his consent before I posted these.

Love that your BF is so supportive, that’s awesome. Maybe next time use a blurring base or do multiple coats, it looks a little thin.
