I’ve always had a few of these but lately it seems like all my nails are peeling down the sides. It is winter where I am but it’s never been this bad before. I use jojoba oil or cuticle balm about once a day and lots of hand cream. Any ideas/tips?? 🙏🏽

I have one of these in my thumbnail- have had it for years atp. They’re really frustrating

No, but seriously, I think this winter’s just been vicious and you’re doing everything right. If it hurts I think it’s derm time
I have them too. I can’t help but chew on them 😅 I do oil occasionally but even if I did that every day I can’t see how it would help.
I get these. I clip off the hanging bit with nippers whenever I notice them. I’m using some creams with urea in addition to oiling but it’s never seemed to make much of a difference on these.
I’ve had to major increase my nail oil this winter because of this! Like instead of once a day when I remember with my home cuticle oil, I bought a roller ball of cuticle oil to keep in my purse.
I’m up to around 3-4 times a day with oiling and that’s helped me a lot over the winter.
That and always moisturizing after I wash my hands. My hand washing way increases this time of year which I know doesn’t help the dryness.
I’ve been trying to oil/moisturize and growing them out to no luck. I just try not to touch them unless they become bothersome, then I cut them away with nippers
I’ve seen folks have success with kerasal-the foot one specifically. I got it but ngl I forget to use it a lot. Whoops.
I get these ALL THE TIME. I’ve carried nail clippers with me ever since I was a teenager. I cut them off whenever I get them.
I’m not sure because I’d have to see your nails without the polish, but it might be cause you’re filing/nipping too much of your sidewalls. Sometimes even a tiny tear on the sidewall can develop into a hangnail.
I’ve noticed a decrease in these since using a nano glass file (not the usual glass/crystal file with the frosted look). It files the nail edge so smoothly that it can help prevent them from splitting off the nail. It probably won’t help with the ones already there but might help prevent new ones from forming.
I trim them carefully with cuticle nippers then gently file them, them oil right after. It’s dry af where I am and if I don’t stay on top of carefully filing when they get rough I get wicked hangnails.
Literally nothing has made these go away for me lmao. My nail health has proved an absurd amount from daily use of jojoba yet these continue to happen. Filing my nails properly and no longer touching my lower parallels didn’t fix it either. I just trim them off
Whatever you do don’t pull it off, I ended up detaching the whole side of my nailbed and it’s been 3 months and it’s not attached yet.
