First time trying glass bead effect

Any tips on how to achieve a smaller bead? I’ve gotten it one time but I’m not sure what I changed in my approach to get it to work. I’ve experimented with different heights, speeds etc is it because my nails are short? Is spinner slower better? What’s the data lol
