For reference: swatched on bare lips with no lip liner, foundation or concealer. Not wearing foundation for the pics, but for skintone reference I use romand's cushion in 03 Natural 21.

Another important disclaimer is that this is my phone's camera, so unfortunately it isn't very good haha. I included the shades that either I perceive as brown, or the brand described as brown! I also tried to build them up as much as I could for the lip swatches, but I do have a light hand, and I tend to blend them out.

For me, the ones truest to brand swatches are Girlcult's, seconded by Kaleidos and Joocyee, with Romand's colors being the most different from the official photos on me.

Shades:

  • Girlcult Gold Rush Liquid Lip Glaze in J809 Escape from Earth
  • Kaleidos Cloud Lab Lip Clay in DE11 Bloodstone
  • Girlcult Peach Festival Solid Lip Glaze in L06 Before Sunrise
  • Joocyee Glazed Rouge in 540 Hazelnut Chocolate
  • Rom&nd Glasting Water Tint in 17 Woody Sunset
  • Rom&nd Sheer Tinted Stick in 05 Dutch Cocoa
  • Girlcult Four Great Inventions Liquid Lip Mud in G71 Linen
  • Girlcult Materia Medica Solid Lip Mud in S07 Mossy Gleam

Girlcult's, Kaleidos' and Joocyee's don't leave a stain, Romand does leave a pretty good stain for the glasting water tint, and a veeeryyyyy light one for the sheer tinted stick.

My favorite shades: Girlcult's J809, L06, S07, Kaleidos' DE11, and Romand's Woody Sunset!

I didn't like G71, but I found a way to make it work for me by mixing it with my black lip mud to make it a darker brown. Romand's Dutch Cocoa, however, I just used as blush, because it isn't nearly as brown as I expected from the official swatches. 540 Hazelnut Chocolate is pretty, but looks more orange than brown on me.

My favorite formulas: Girlcult's and Romand's Glasting Water Tint.

As much as I love Kaleidos' shade, I don't know if it's my batch or if it's this specific color, but it applies so unevenly I need to be in my best lip condition on that day for me to be able to wear it, otherwise it simply won't blend and will cling to any slightly dry patch that I have.

Girlcult's seem to apply much easier on me, especially if I use a lip liner beforehand.

I also dislike the Sheer Tinted Stick formula because I found it way too sheer hahahah…… I can't blame Romand for this one, they did not lie 😭 It's so sheer that it looks like my natural lip color but pinker, and it isn't very moisturizing, on top of having only 2g. So this one wasn't the best deal all around for me!

Note: no warm lighting this time because if I kept waiting for a sunny day with a free schedule (and my lips at their top form for a Bloodstone swatch), Dutch Cocoa would no longer be with us… I panned it as blush 🫠 But if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!!

  1. Your editing for this photo is phenomenal. Are your lips naturally that light, or do you have products for that? I wish my lip color was less pigmented so that lipsticks showed up more.
