It may not feel like it, but this year has just begun

I'm keeping a promise to myself to document my 2025 polish adventure. It's not fancy and it's a little hard to see, but I did a little swatch on an index card for every new mani. Inset circles represent stamping art. Clearly I love sparkles, thermals (my toes are almost always thermal) and magnetics. I need to stop buying blues and white/nude shades that I don't wear. Polish stays on my nails almost too long, so I love painting cabochon magnets in the meantime. I included a few of my fave manis too.

Most people might think the amount of time I spend painting my nails or thinking about/cataloging/swatching polish is insane, but I argue that it's one of the things that keeps me sane. In a world that seems to be crumbling around us and pushing the boundaries of what should be acceptable as a society, polish can be grounding as well as provide relief in the form of self-expression. I am so grateful that all the terrible news and horrifying videos in my reddit feed are interspersed with beautiful fingers from around the world and a supportive community. If only the rest of the US could be accepting, helpful, positive, mad geniuses.
