I painted this mani inspired by the continuing (?!!?) nurses strike in NYC. Nurses are so important and essential to healthcare and the wellbeing of everyone around us, and it is so frustrating and saddening to see so many of them ending up burnt out, unsupported and dejected. I really hope that the nurses striking in NYC can get what they are asking for in terms of benefits and staffing, and that the hospitals will treat them as well as they deserve!

Speaking as a physician, everyone should be supporting the nurses strike! Safe staffing and properly paid/appreciated nurses are probably THE most important things to keep people safe in the hospital. Care is so impacted when nurses are stretched too thin or constantly churning in and out due to burn out and poor pay.
