Hi! Friend scheduled me a gel manicure appt (birthday hang out situation) but I have to keep my nails really short because I play guitar. Since I never get my nails done (even though I want to so bad) I have no idea what will work and what won’t. Like will the nail salon even be able to work with my hands?? Thanks for the help!!

  1. yes but they might look a little bubble shaped, I would suggest getting nail tips to give you some length if it’s for a special occasion and you really wanna have a nicer look.

  2. I’ve seen people go in with numbs, as I call them when you bite your nails short than yours, walk out with full set nails. The nail salon can do a gel mani for you.

One of my client plays guitar so she couldnt play it for 4 weeks with long nails.. so we switched to builder gel on short nails .. i think you can ask for that in salon

Yup. As long as you’re not doing acrylic overlay (dip powder or bead) you should be fine.

Honestly I was a big nail bitter until I got press ons for two weeks which wherent long enough to be over the tip of my finger. That allowed me to grow my natural nail enough to get a manicure with biab which looked nice. I got of nail bitting and now have does really nice long nails.

I would advice to try press on that you can fill down enough to be a bit longer then your natural nail. Just to get used to the length for a few weeks.

You have really wide nail beds, may be best to just get clear gel. Don’t get tips or make them longer, they will be gigantic. Genetics, can’t control em.

Yes, you can 100% get gel. Are you planning on keeping up with the gel manicures? If it’s in your budget to do so, then I recommend builder (hard) gel since you play guitar. It will hold up much better. However, it must be filed off to remove, it cannot just be soaked off with acetone. Things to consider.
