My nails curl inwards as they grow. I do my own nails with biab. Is there any way to prevent that curl or should I just cut them short and use extensions?

  1. My exact issue, I also haven’t found a solution sadly 🙁 I want to get into gel x because of this

  2. That’s just how your nails naturally grow, there’s nothing wrong with it and there’s also nothing you can do about it. Not everyone’s grow that way, but it’s completely normal

  3. You’ll have to look up videos on how to do this, but you want to file the sides a little bit— just enough to relieve some of that pressure without filing the sidewalls of your nails. Basically, the side of the free edge. Don’t file anywhere where your nail meets your skin. A good way to do it is by placing the file inside of the nail curve and filing it there.

Once you file the sides it will look more “flat” and the curve less pronounced. For what its worth, i think the curve is gorgeous!

[this](https://youtu.be/UZlzJZRDUAI?si=GKE711bogNE4lrsH) is an old simplynailogical video but she shows how to file the sides of the free edge at 4:40. Even just minimal filing will help soften the curve less pronounced

  4. My natural nails look just like that when they are long. I have a very short nail bed and as soon as they get longer than my bed they curve like that. Just thought it was my shirt nail bed and nail shape. I think they look great and love the color.

  5. Im thinking two things…1- this is your genetics and 2- you are lucky, I think it looks lovely! Your nails look lovely 💜💜💜💜

  6. hi, nail student here that’s about to graduate. that’s called your c-curve, it’s just how your nails naturally are and it’s actually a desirable thing to have a prominent one as it looks really nice! if you make your structure better your overall nail will look nicer as well, like making the free edge, side walls, and cuticle areas the thinnest parts of the gel and the middle (apex) the thickest. you can look up tutorials on how to build an apex on youtube. i think thenailhub has a lot of great resources and her nails also have a prominent c-curve, which i think is gorgeous and i always stare at her nail shape when i watch her tutorials

  7. I have this when too much product is on my nails. The nail dries out and starts to curve more, than it does without product. Try moisturizing and oiling from underneath.

  8. My nails do this. I carefully file the sides before any product, then if they do curve, it’s not as bad. I also like the shape it gives.

  9. file your nails to an almond shape and they won’t dig in as much! v jealous of your curve and nail thickness

It is thr natural shape but u can file the underside so it flattens but its temporary. Once u try to file it down and its not symmetrical you cant reverse that so be careful if u choose to file it down. Sometimes I get frustrated filing too much is what I mean so sometimes ill lightly file or leave it alone. Just know it will remove polish where u file and u can clear coat where u buffed. Otherwise it’ll be matte.
