I found this on Pinterest (no artist listed) and id like to recreate the look. Im new to doing my nails so all advice is appreciated! Is the base a sheer black or did they use a brown? How do you sheer out nail polish? And what tools are best for polka dots? Thanks!

This effect is achieved with gel nailpolish. You blend the clear top polish with a drop of black and then apply it.
If using traditional polish, you’re going to have to hand mix and troubleshoot. Buy a clear polish and drop, a couple drops at a time, black polish you like inside. You may need to add ball bearings to agitate and mix the color. Add until you like what you see when you test it. Application with traditional polish will be difficult. Try to do even coats and don’t press the brush on the nail too hard which will cause more streaks.
