For prep and for magnetizing. Only for gadgets I own.
Prep:
- 2 coats of kb shimmer fillin groovy, long dry time
- 1 coat ILNP Frosted Glass (use any matte top coat)
- let dry DRY dry very super dry
Polish:
- thin coat Cracked Lahar, let dry a bit
- float on med. thick coat of Lahar
- pass a bar magnet over to “push away” all the magnetic shimmer first
- glass bead on lab fish stirrer on low, 1 min
- Sally Hansen insta dri QDTC and magnetize again
The smooth surface made a big difference for me personally in how I like the results. I think I will always do at least 1 coat of ridge fill plus matte under magnetics.
I didn’t test with and without the “demagnetizing” step before the main magnet style but I feel like it helps. One of the things I didn’t like about my last magnetic mani was there were these weird unintended stripes or effects at the edges of my nails, I feel like this made a clean slate so to speak.
I like the lazy mode of just sitting my finger on the lab fish, because I am lazy. I did try the mini lazy Susan with my 30lb horseshoe but I didn’t feel like the difference was enough to have to hold my finger higher plus it was super noisy. (The pink stuff on the stirrer is the putty I used to hold that stuff on for that try. I ended up using it to help me hold my finger placement by feel.)
I also did one nail velvet in my 30lb horseshoe (ring finger in the video), and two with the snazzy mag “loopy” plate (thumb in the video). I like the loopy with Lahar, but my favorite for this polish is actually velvet style, go figure. 🤣 I have some others I want to try glass bead. The main reason I got the snazzy mag was for the “void” plate, excited to try that.
