I am looking to do something like the first and second picture. I understand how to do the third (gold) picture, is the technique of the first picture like the technique of the third, just with the chrome on the base color as well? The part I like of the first picture is how it looks like the gems are actually nested into the nails, but not sure how to achieve it without covering the whole nail in 3D gel which seems like it would be thick and not look great. I am a hobbyist and do my own nails at home.

I would chrome the base and cure. Add 3D gel and nestle the nails then cure.
You could also achieve the same look with acrylic I think, but you’d need to pre-plan your stone placement and work fast to sculpt the hollows for it.
