I was interested in their glow powders but this gave me the ick in a big way…

😬

Just wanted to throw this out there, maybe spark a little discussion in hopes of being able to articulate my own feelings on this a bit better.

Anyone have any experiences with this brand?

  1. I’m not usually put off by names, I usually have a chuckle at nsfw names like BKL Patroness of P—y. But this… Hmm. This puts me off. I don’t see the joke.

  2. I think they are trying to imitate the “edgy/icky” naming Urban Decay was infamous for in the 90s, but they should have foreseen that using the name of a drug would not sit well with many :/

Yeah this is very fucked up. I mostly find polish names really funny and clever but this is neither funny nor clever and it just feels all around shitty.

Ew. Yeah, not a fan. It feels like it was named by that dudebro we’ve all met who makes a sexist comment and when you give him a dirty look or call him out he tries to act like he was joking and like you’re the one without a sense of humor.
This price point is out of my budget, but even if it weren’t I don’t think I’d linger on their website after seeing this. Lost too many friends to addiction.

    Edited spelling

  5. i think it would be totally fair for people not to like this but i personally don’t mind/care

  6. yeah that is all kinds of screwed up. looks like shadow grove from ilnp for a similar color without a problematic name or ridiculous price tag.

Oof. It’s a cool color, but this seems really dismissive of anyone who’s struggled with addiction, just to seem edgy.

  8. The awful name, the price, and the fact that it’s just a boring ass brown shimmer that I could get for a quarter of the price elsewhere? Bye 💅

This reeks of someone who makes racist comments and then is confused when labeled racist.

It’s not funny. It’s not cute. And multiple people would have seen this before it went to production…

Yeah, this would put me off of the entire brand, tbh. That price tag, too, but this feels like…deliberately insensitive?

Why not just say black tar or call it ashtray or bong water or something edgy but not completely insensitive

  12. The name is fucked, and the tag line is worse.

SEE ITS FUNNY BECAUSE ADDICTS ITCH, YOU KNOW, LIKE DAVE CHAPELLE, LOLZ

  13. It’s in poor taste, absolutely. I also think Inkwell by Holo Taco might make a decent dupe for this color at less cost.

  14. I’m a recovering addict and I don’t love this. Urban decay made a green lipstick called Junkie that I used to like back in my hey day but the older I get the more I realize that’s a literal slur.

This is just triggering like 100% I literally wouldn’t be able to use this nail polish and I wonder when brands alienate me like that, if it’s intentional , right?

Do they want addicts like me to be turned away and put off? Many places do

  15. As someone in recovery who works with people who are trying to be in recovery I am outraged. This is some kind of bullshit.

Tar made me really quit using its nasty and the color is weirdly spot on but I agree with the general consensus I feel whomever named this color has never used so doesn’t quite understand the gravitas. Calling it opium ball would’ve been pretty identical in concept but way less edge lord.
