Hi. Im new to gel nails after years of using lacquer

I did these today and I did my isolated chrome then top coat. First Pic you can see they are crisp and clear. I wanted to do a second top coat to protect the chrome. So I buffed ONLY my middle finger very lightly and applied another layer. You can see that the middle finger isn't as crisp anymore and some of the chrome came off buffing

So I decided to trust the top coat and stay with a single layer and see what happens. I wiped my nails with acetone to get off any remaining chrome on my fingers. As you can see (especially on my pinky) the chrome on my nails wiped off even with a top coat. That's what I was scared of.

I tried placing another layer of top coat without buffing but it clearly was not going to work it was separating on the nail since it has nothing to stick to

So either way I am wiping the chrome off. Should I be doing another matte top coat over them then a glossy? Or would a double wipe top coat work?

Sad cause I really liked them but now theyre slightly ruined 😔
Thanks in advance

After you rub the chrome on do you go over the design with a clear gel to cure it in place? I would recommend taking a fine brush and lining the design with Makaart rhinestone gel. Alternatively or alongside the first recommendation, you’ll need to use a top coat specifically made for chrome designs, I do both. Lastly, as a given, make sure you’re using a high quality chrome powder – cheap ones may produce this issue as well.
