This is a lot more subtle than swatches I saw before I bought it, in some instances it looked almost black, whilst this is a very pretty soft purple. Is there something wrong with my product or are we using a dark base under it? 🤔

this looks more to me like By the Light of the Moon?? I have Choo Choo and the base is much darker in contrast to the glass bead…
BKL describes it as “a deep berry with ultra fine silvery green magnetic shimmer.” I watched some swatch videos and there you can see that it’s a berry-purple.
I initially thought it was black, brown, or charcoal when I saw it swatched here too. But I think it was just the lighting. I bet it would work well to put black underneath if you want it to look black with the white flash (or silvery green flash, as they describe it).
I have this one coming to me and I’m excited. I have the Silent Scream already, so I was glad to see it was berry colored.

I feel like most of the BKL catalogue is quite sheer- you might find that an additional cost (or even 2!) will deepen up the base in a way you like.
I typically do 3 coats with any of their shades to get something resembling the swatch photos.
Not sure about everyone else but I’ve gotten into the habit of using creams and letting them dry a bit more before my magnetic coat. I’ve used a cream dark purple under choochoo and it did come out very black-leaning, but my (thick 3 coater) swatch is also quite dark
