What am I supposed to do with this break? I put nail strengthener on it and am just hoping for a Christmas miracle. Do I cut it once it grows out a bit? Just let it ride? This is my best nail too! Fuck opening boxes for wrapping 🎄🎁✂️😲😭

Time to pull out the tea bag and nail glue 🙏
Use some silk wrap & nail glue to hold it in place while it grows out!
I had a similar break in a similar place & grew it out just past the tip of my finger. I layered my polishes instead of using acetone between manicures. It held for about a month or so!
That’s a nasty split, but you can totally save it! Tea bag + nail glue is your best friend right now.
That happens to me like once every six months. None of my nails ever break except for that one! It always splits in the same spot.
You don’t have to cut it! A lot of people recommend a tea bag and nail glue, but I recommend skipping the tea bag and using a silk wrap meant for nails with nail glue. It’s a lot stronger. I’ve gotten the patches to hold for weeks with that method. I prefer to use gel resin instead of regular nail glue because it’s a bit stronger. It smells bad, though!
You can also use a clear dip powder overlay to hold it together while it grows out. That’s what is on my right thumbnail currently. Try to do thin coats and file it down smoothly when you’re finished and it’ll last for several weeks as well.
With both of these methods you can apply and remove polish like normal. Just use an acetone free remover on the patched nail.
Tea bag fix didn’t last for me personally. Now what I do is align the break so it sits flat (you can buff a tiny bit if needed) then cover with a layer of builder gel. However this obviously necessitates buying a builder gel + a UV lamp if you don’t already have one.
If you find a tea bag and/or nail glue isn’t holding up, might be worth considering!
I’ve had a badly broken thumb nail and it’s been holding on for weeks with help of the Orly repair kit.
