I have had one set of gel x and one fill to grow my natural nails out, they had finally gotten to the point I wanted to remove the gel x and use only my natural nail length, I was recommended Japanese gel instead of gel x/builder gel but I noticed underneath my nails look broken and they don’t appear to reach the end of the polish anymore 🥲 the tech did file the underneath post gel application. They also filed only, no soak off the original set. Is this normal? I’m scared I may have messed up 😵💫

Not a professional but I do think this is normal in principle – filing the natural nail to be shorter than/“tucked under” the extension helps prevent lifting at the tips. That said, it seems like they filed more of the natural nail back than may have been necessary, which I get is a bummer if you were working on growing out your natural nails! Fwiw I think they look nice and I like the cateye and design, they are so festive!!
