I walked out of a nail salon today and I am so proud of myself.

I went to a nail salon my colleague recommended but when i got there, I noticed she was using the same file on the previous person and just desinfecting it with alcohol. I thought to myself “alright guess I’ll just not come back here”. She didn’t cut my proximal fold which I am very happy with, but then she started working on my nails first and put a tiny bit of gel on my skin, twice. I said I didn’t want that because of allergies. She said that’s not how you get allergies. She needs to get that close otherwise you get lifting if you just put it on the nail plate and she couldn’t give me any warranty if it lifts within a week (that’s not how lifting works, but sure /s).

Then she said she won’t work with me again because she prefers to work her way or not at all. Especially on a client who tells her how to do her job with no knowledge of nails. I didn’t go in discussion that I definitely do my research and said “why continue, let’s just quit here”. She filed a bit of bulk from my thumbs. I paid, said I’m sorry we’re no match and left. I am so proud of myself that I stood up for myself. I never ever do that 🥹.

Now I have a thin layer of biab on my thumbs which I need to remove…

(Attached are some nails I once did myself because my post keeps getting removed and I dont know why)

  1. I know you know, but they’re totally backwards – you should apply gel ONLY on the nail plate; if it bridges the gap and touches skin, that’s how you get lifting. I can’t imagine going somewhere for what’s supposed to be a pampering experience and have to argue with the “expert” on how to do their job safely! I also absolutely never complain about things (even like getting the wrong meal at a restaurant lol) so major props to you for sticking to your guns!!
